Moving questions, answered plainly
Booking, pricing, protection and moving day. If your question is not here, a coordinator is one call away.
Booking and quotes
Book two to four weeks ahead for most local moves. Summer weekends and the last and first days of the month often fill three to five weeks out, so reserve early if your date is fixed.
Yes. Every move starts with a free video or in-home walkthrough and a written estimate. Local moves get an hourly rate with a not-to-exceed total, and long-distance moves get a binding estimate.
Local moves are held with a refundable $100 deposit up to 72 hours before your date. Long-distance moves require a deposit of 10 percent, credited to your final bill.
Yes. Date changes made more than 72 hours ahead are free, subject to availability. We will always try to keep your crew and truck.
Pricing and payment
Our sample rates start at $139 per hour for two movers and a truck, with a three hour minimum. Most one-bedroom apartments land between $420 and $700, and three-bedroom homes between $1,100 and $1,900. Use the moving cost calculator for a sample range.
No. Your written quote lists the hourly rate, flat travel fee, materials and any specialty items. Stairs, long carries and elevator waits are discussed during the walkthrough so they are not a surprise.
Tipping is never required. Many customers give $20 to $40 per mover for a full-day move, or provide lunch and drinks.
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, ACH transfers and certified checks. Payment is collected when the move is complete.
Protection and claims
Yes. BlueLine carries general liability, cargo and workers compensation insurance, and holds interstate authority. USDOT and MC numbers on this demo site are placeholders.
Released value protection is included free and covers items at 60 cents per pound per article, as required by federal rules. It is basic coverage, which is why many customers choose Full Value or Premier protection.
Note any damage on the inventory before your crew leaves, then submit photos through our claims form within 30 days. Most claims are resolved within two weeks.
Moving day
Empty dressers of heavy or fragile items, defrost the freezer 24 hours ahead, set aside valuables and documents, reserve elevators and parking, and keep a clear path from the door to the truck.
We cannot transport hazardous materials like propane tanks, paint, gasoline, fireworks or ammunition, and we do not move perishable food or live plants on long-distance moves.
You or a trusted adult should be present at the start to walk the crew through the home, and at the end to sign the inventory.
Yes. Standard disassembly and reassembly of beds, tables and cribs is included. Complex items like wall units or smart beds may take extra time.
